Preparing yourself before treatment is important for a successful outcome!
When a patient visits a Homoeopathic doctor for the first time he is very anxious and nervous, as he has heard that homoeopaths take about an hour for the first consultation. He is also confused about the questions likely to be asked by his consultant, as those are usually quite different from what he must have experienced with other doctors.
Here we have answers to all queries of those who have never visited a homoeopath: The homoeopathic visit consists of asking questions and listening most attentively to the answers.
What does a homoeopathic doctor need to know? Why?
The homeopath conducts a comprehensive inquiry about your food preferences, sleeping posture, perspiration, thirst, nature, dreams, feelings, perceptions, and sensations in various life situations.
This approach allows the homeopath to understand each patient as a unique individual with their own set of ailments, rather than as a standard case. We all have our differences, not only in appearance and communication style, but also in our emotions, thoughts, reactions, worldview, nature, temperament, and susceptibility to various diseases.
For instance, during an influenza epidemic, only specific individuals are affected, highlighting our distinct vulnerabilities. The homeopath's objective is to thoroughly understand these individual differences to deliver personalized treatment and healing.
This process in homeopathic treatment is called individualization.
Individualization is important in homoeopathy
Each of us has our own individual reactivity; hence, the symptoms and the pace of infection differ in every case. In any situation, each one of us reacts differently. Think of a tragedy, and different people feel and react differently to events. Identical twins developed from the same single cell can have strikingly different natures.
Consider this simple example: if someone hits 5 people with a stone, all five will say "A stone hit me." However, their responses can vary widely when asked to describe the sensation.
One person might say, "It hurt me so badly that it left a bruise; it was like a bang in the head." Another might say, "It was like a knife being driven into my body." Yet another might say, "I hardly felt it; it was completely painless." Someone else might say, "That hit made me completely paralyzed for a while," while another could say, "It reminded me of the accident that took place one year before in which I lost my brother. It is the same sensation I get with all my emotional disturbances."
This example illustrates that the same stimulus can bring about different perceptions and reactions in different individuals. Each person's experience of the same stimulus is individualistic and significant for a homeopath, as it can provide a clue for determining a remedy.
How homoeopathy differ from other systems of medicine?
The homeopath regards disease as a disturbance of the vital force. This disturbed vital force causes disturbances at the energy level, which in turn leads to disturbances at the mind and body levels. When the human body can't cope with these disturbances at the mind and body levels, the disease starts.
In homeopathy, each person is considered to be a combination of their innermost feelings, perceptions, thoughts, sensations, and their reactions to thoughts, feelings, perceptions, fears, and sensations, as well as how they cope with all of these in both health and disease. It is important for the homeopath to understand the way a person thinks, feels, perceives, and experiences their illness, themselves, and the world around them. To explore these aspects, a homeopath needs to delve into areas where these things are fully expressed. This can include the patient's fears, dreams, impactful incidents, interests, hobbies, childhood nature, fantasies, desires, imaginations, and the symptoms that bother them the most.
Here it differs from conventional medicine (Allopathy) and other alternative system of medicine (Siddha, Ayurveda & Unani). Conventional medicine focuses on the physical disease (diagnosis) while homeopathy considers the entire disturbed phenomena at the mental, physical, and energy levels, i.e, holistic health care.
Holistic healing is the main objective of our treatment
The main goal of homeopathic treatment is not only to address the disease, but also to restore the balance between the mind and body, and to heal the disturbed vital force. This helps the patient to enhance their healing power, enabling their body to address various health issues. At the mental level, patients become aware of their thoughts, fears, feelings, perceptions, and associated reactions. At the physical level, they get rid of the disease, and improvements can be seen in sleep, appetite, and thirst. Furthermore, the patient becomes aware of sensations and their associated reactions, which go deeper than the mind and body. This awareness of sensation leads to an overall understanding of movements, impulses, thoughts, and feelings. This kind of awareness brings freedom to fully enjoy every moment of life, which is the true definition of a cure.
To achieve this goal, a homeopath must have a detailed understanding of all these aspects.
